Dassault Systèmes — global leader in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions — has announced that it has partnered up with the European aerospace and defence digital exchange hub, BoostAeroSpace, to launch a scalable collaboration platform available as a service on a high-security, private cloud or on premise — AirDesign.
According to the press release, AirDesign offers a neutral workspace for advance original equipment manufacturers (OEM).
The platform is designed to integrate the top aerospace and defence industry players.
BoostAeroSpace will distribute the new platform, alongside Dassault Systèmes.
“The very complex problems of orchestrating aerospace and defence PLM systems between multiple partners have been solved with AirDesign. Its ability to handle and synchronise the exchange of highly secured PLM data has a positive effect on the quality, efficiency and productivity of the European aerospace industry. It gives the industry a strong application to support development,” said Jean Ferlus, CEO of BoostAeroSpace.
“AirDesign provides an environment for aerospace and defence industry partners to accelerate and sustain collaborative innovation. It opens a large number of opportunities for suppliers of all sizes, as they will join an on-the-cloud mutualised infrastructure, spending the money and resources normally needed for an IT infrastructure on developing their business with more customers,” said Michel Tellier, Vice President for Aerospace & Defence Industry at Dassault Systèmes.
AirDesign reduces operational costs for partners thanks to the single infrastructure, open standards and common exchange methods.
The platform was requested and defined by all the primary European OEMs in order to facilitate exchanges, support ecosystems and generate new opportunities with services.
AirDesign does not have an impact on existing information systems and its digital exchange hub delivers capabilities enable OEM’s to organise exchange in the context of projects, while also allowing for an integrated, secured and automatic technical data package exchange.
