Capral Aluminium is expanding its Australian manufacturing and distribution footprint with the opening of a new Aluminium Trade Centre in Geelong, aimed at improving access to products and services for manufacturers, fabricators and trade businesses across western Victoria.
In a news release, Capral Aluminium said the facility will service Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula, the Surf Coast and surrounding regions, providing access to aluminium extrusions, sheet, plate and rolled products supported by local technical expertise and its national supply network.
The centre was officially opened by representatives from the City of Greater Geelong alongside Capral Aluminium CEO Tony Dragicevich, marking what the company described as a milestone in its ongoing investment in regional manufacturing capability and distribution.
According to Capral Aluminium, the new site strengthens its ability to support local industry while leveraging its broader national operations, which include six extrusion presses and a distribution network serving sectors such as construction, transport, marine, defence, renewable energy and general fabrication.
Capral Aluminium General Manager Southern Region Peter Darvell said the expansion reflects growing industrial activity in the region and the company’s focus on combining local service with national manufacturing capacity.
“Geelong is an incredibly important and growing region for Victorian manufacturing, construction and trade, and we are very excited to establish a stronger local presence here,” Darvell said.
“Our new Aluminium Trade Centre gives local customers access to a broad range of aluminium extrusions, sheet and plate products supported by local service, technical expertise and the reliability of Capral’s national network.”
He said the facility would improve supply responsiveness for customers across different project sizes and industries.
“Customers will benefit from access to one of Australia’s most comprehensive aluminium product ranges, supported by warehousing, distribution and manufacturing capability right across the country,” he said. “Whether it’s a small fabrication job, residential project or large industrial application, we are committed to helping customers access the products and support they need.”
The company also noted the Geelong site carries historical significance, with its presence in the region dating back to the mid-1990s when earlier aluminium operations were established before later consolidation across Victoria. Capral Aluminium said its return to Geelong reflects renewed demand in one of the state’s growing industrial corridors.
The expansion comes as Capral Aluminium marks 90 years of Australian manufacturing in 2026, with the company highlighting its ongoing role in supporting local industry, employment and sovereign manufacturing capability.
As an Australian Made licensee and the country’s largest aluminium extruder and distributor, Capral Aluminium said the investment underscores its confidence in the long-term outlook for regional manufacturing growth in Victoria.
