ClearVue advances manufacturing with global certification for Gen 3 Vision Glass

ClearVue Technologies says its Gen 3 Vision Glass has achieved multiple international certifications following an independent testing program, marking a manufacturing milestone that the company says supports the commercial deployment of its building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products across global markets.

According to the company, independent testing and certification conducted by TÜV SÜD resulted in Gen 3 Vision Glass receiving IECEE CB, CE and TÜV MARK Safety certifications. ClearVue said the product was certified to the latest international photovoltaic performance and safety standards, IEC 61215:2021 and IEC 61730:2023.

In a news release, the company said the certifications validate the product’s performance, durability, electrical safety and long-term reliability, while also supporting its specification for commercial building projects in major international construction markets.

ClearVue said the certification program covers four Gen 3 Vision Glass variants using Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) photovoltaic cells, with power outputs ranging from 9W to 336W. 

The certified products feature frameless single- and double-glazed construction, Class II electrical protection, a maximum system voltage of 1,000V DC and a UL790 Class A fire rating.

The company said certification followed an independent testing program that assessed electrical performance, environmental reliability, mechanical performance, electrical safety and construction compliance. 

Tests included thermal cycling, damp heat ageing, humidity-freeze, hail impact, static and dynamic mechanical loading, hot-spot endurance, potential induced degradation resistance and high-voltage insulation assessments.

ClearVue Managing Director Douglas Hunt said the company had aimed to exceed minimum international testing requirements rather than simply meet them.

“International certifications are always significant milestones for ClearVue, but what makes this achievement truly important is the standard we set for ourselves long before we entered the certification process,” Hunt said.

“Our engineering objective was never simply to pass the international standards.”

Hunt said the standards simulate 25 years of ageing on a building and that the company’s internal design validation testing subjects products to more than double the required cycling.

He added that Gen 3 glazing products had also recently passed AS/NZS 2208 and EN1279-5 construction standards for safety glass testing, including delamination and insulating glass unit sealing tests.

“We believe failure in the testing lab is far better than failure onsite. This is an ethos that is at the core of all our engineering,” Hunt said.

He said the latest certifications demonstrate the company’s ability to “design, manufacture and certify world leading products” and reflect more than a year of work by its engineering and product development teams.

“These certifications provide independent validation of that philosophy. They represent more than a year of exceptional work by our engineering and product development team and demonstrate the quality, durability and reliability that underpin our Gen 3 platform,” Hunt said.

ClearVue said the IECEE CB certification enables test results to be recognised across more than 50 participating economies, while CE certification provides access to the European Union market and TÜV MARK Safety certification offers independent verification of product quality, reliability and safety.

 The company said these certifications provide an important commercial foundation for the international deployment of its Gen 3 Vision Glass products.
