According to the ASX announcement by Mint, Electrolux will use Mint’s powerful Mintegrate platform to develop its mobile payment solution, which Mint created for developers to integrate mobile payments into mobile applications for iOS and Android devices.

The payments solution includes a secure and bank-grade compliant Chip and PIN device which will allow Electrolux service technicians to accept credit card payments on their Android smartphones and automatically reconcile transactions with Electrolux’s backend systems.

“We are delighted to partner with brand like Electrolux to rollout their mobile payment solution. Mint Wireless eliminates the complexities of reconciling payments from customers and improves cash flow of businesses as payments are credited to their account on the next business day. Customers can also be assured that their card payments are being taken on a secure and compliant device, similar to any device a consumer would use in retail environment,” Alex Teoh, CEO of Mint Wireless said.

“Electrolux is committed to drive innovation globally and making the lives of our employees and customers easier. We have designed our appliances with our customers in mind and we are now working with Mint Wireless to make the lives of our customers easier by providing them with a hassle-free option to pay wherever they are,” David Lee. Electrolux’s Senior Corporate Controller said.

The new payment solution means that hundreds of Electrolux technicians attending to service calls from June 2014 will be equipped with an Android mobile device and a small Electrolux branded card reader. At the end of each service call, service technicians can enter the cost of the service on a mobile device, swipe a credit card and get customers to confirm the transaction using PIN or on-screen signature. After verifying the PIN or the signature, customers will be able to choose to receive a receipt by SMS or Email.

A web-based admin portal will capture all transactions and allow Electrolux’s administrative office employees to view transaction histories and report on all transactions. The new payment solution will be integrated with Electrolux’s backend systems which will significantly reduce the number of administrative tasks to be performed.
