Australian manufacturer Gekko Systems has unveiled the latest iteration of its flagship product, the OLGA Mk3, with enhanced functionality including multiplexing capabilities and upgraded data-gathering mechanisms.

Nigel Grigg, general manager of Global Sales & Solutions at Gekko Systems, hailed the new design elements as a significant advancement that promises to elevate value and returns for clients while streamlining operational processes.

“The OLGA – or online gold analyser – is a flagship product for Gekko’s real-time data instrumentation division and operates alongside other key products such as the Carbon Scout to assist in measuring the recovery of gold real-time in gold processing plants,” Grigg stated.

Central to OLGA’s capabilities is the proprietary “Golden Eye” lens technology, a world-first innovation developed in Australia’s renowned CSIRO research laboratories.

This cutting-edge component enables the measurement of gold grades in slurries and solutions, including low-grade streams as low as 0.1 parts per million (ppm).

Additionally, OLGA can assess other elements such as copper, silver, platinum, and nickel, providing comprehensive insights into processing plant performance.

With its multiplexing feature, OLGA can seamlessly switch between different streams, offering unparalleled flexibility and efficiency in monitoring and optimising gold-leaching circuits.

Moreover, OLGA’s dedicated sample feed line ensures continuous sampling of large volumes with zero risk of cross-contamination.

The system also accommodates ad-hoc sampling points, granting operators the flexibility to adapt to evolving operational requirements.

By analysing ad-hoc samples as batch samples, OLGA minimises sampling errors and reduces the need for additional sampling systems.

Extensively tested and refined, the OLGA Mk3 guarantees robustness, reliability, and accuracy across diverse operational conditions, all while requiring minimal maintenance.

For mining professionals aiming to maximize returns on investments through increased yields and plant automation, OLGA Mk3 represents a transformative solution.

Acknowledging the collaborative effort behind OLGA’s development, Gekko Systems extends gratitude to its partners, including Gold Fields, CSIRO, Orway IQ, Curtin University, and METS Ignited.

The Gruyere Gold Mine, a joint venture between Gold Fields and Gold Road Resources, served as a pivotal testing ground, demonstrating the efficacy of OLGA technology in achieving results that closely correlate with manual assay data.

In line with Gekko’s ethos of collaboration and innovation, OLGA Mk3 embodies the #smartertogether philosophy, promising to reshape the landscape of gold processing with its unprecedented capabilities.
