Honda Aircraft announces first HondaJet delivery

Honda Aircraft Company, the wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., has begun deliveries of the HondaJet, the world’s fastest, highest-flying, quietest and most fuel-efficient jet in its class.

The company said that the first aircraft was delivered last week at its world headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, after receiving final type certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on 8 December.

“We are very excited to commence deliveries of the HondaJet, fulfilling Honda’s commitment to advancing human mobility through innovation,” said President and CEO Michimasa Fujino in a press release on the Business Wire.

“Honda Aircraft has now extended this commitment skyward with the delivery of our first aircraft, and I hope we soon will begin to see many HondaJets at airports around the world.”

Honda Aircraft is manufacturing the HondaJet at its world headquarters in Greensboro. To support HondaJet customers, the company has established a worldwide dealer network in 11 territories, which are ready to support aircraft entry into service, as well as to provide heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul services.

The company said that HondaJet customers can gain pilot training through the full-motion, Level D flight simulator installed at the Honda Aircraft Training Centre in Greensboro.

The HondaJet – the world’s most advanced light jet – features revolutionary technology and design innovations, such as the Over-The-Wing Engine Mount design, which dramatically improves performance and fuel efficiency by reducing aerodynamic drag.

The OTWEM design also reduces cabin sound, minimises ground-detected noise and allows the HondaJet to have the roomiest cabin compared to other conventional aircraft in its class.

Additionally, the HondaJet is equipped with a Honda-customised Garmin® G3000, the most sophisticated glass flight deck available in any light business jet.
