Melbourne Polytechnic has opened an expression of interest (EOI) process inviting manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers and construction industry partners to contribute to a new Modern Methods of Construction Showcase Building planned for its Heidelberg campus.
According to a LinkedIn post published by Melbourne Polytechnic, the Showcase Building will form part of the Future of Housing Construction Centre of Excellence and is intended to become a demonstration and education facility focused on modern methods of construction in Victoria.
The institution said the facility is designed to provide a hands-on learning environment where students, industry representatives and researchers can explore practical applications of prefabrication, advanced manufacturing, digital construction and other emerging building technologies.
Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking contributions including products, technologies, equipment, displays and educational content for demonstration purposes.
Organisations are also invited to propose materials and building systems that could be considered for integration into the Showcase Building.
In its LinkedIn announcement, Melbourne Polytechnic described the initiative as “a unique opportunity to showcase innovation, contribute to industry-led education and help build the skills needed to support Australia’s future construction workforce and the broader adoption of modern construction methods.”
The EOI is linked to the Future of Housing Construction Centre of Excellence, a joint Australian and Victorian government initiative that aims to support workforce development and innovation in modern methods of construction. The centre is based at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Heidelberg campus and focuses on training, applied research and industry collaboration to support the housing construction sector.
Details published through the Victorian Government Tenders portal state that submissions for the Showcase Building EOI close at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, 4 August 2026.
