Weld Australia has announced that the National Manufacturing Summit 2027 will be held in Adelaide on 8 and 9 June next year, with the event set to focus on manufacturing sovereignty and opportunities for Australia’s defence manufacturing sector.
Early bird registrations are now open, according to the industry body.
Hosted by Weld Australia, the two-day summit will be held at the Amora Hotel in Adelaide under the theme “Manufacturing Sovereignty: Australia’s Defence Advantage.”
According to the organisation, the event will bring together defence leaders, manufacturers, prime contractors, policymakers and industry experts to examine the strategies, capabilities and partnerships shaping Australia’s sovereign manufacturing future.
In its announcement, Weld Australia said the summit will explore how Australian manufacturers can position themselves to support Defence procurement priorities, strengthen local industrial capability and participate in defence supply chains.
“As global tensions reshape supply chains and accelerate the need for self-reliant industrial systems, the Defence industry stands out as both a priority and an unparalleled opportunity for Australian manufacturers,” the organisation said on the summit website.
“These programs demand precision, reliability, and world-class innovation. They also offer local manufacturers a pathway to scale, diversify, and embed themselves in globally competitive value chains.”
Announcing the event on LinkedIn, Weld Australia said: “We are pleased to announce that the National Manufacturing Summit has been rescheduled and will now take place on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 June 2027.”
The organisation added that the summit would “bring together Defence leaders, prime contractors, manufacturers, and industry experts to explore the strategies, capabilities, and partnerships shaping Australia’s sovereign manufacturing future.”
It also said the event would help participants “position itself to meet Defence’s ambitious procurement priorities, strengthen local capability, and unlock new opportunities across the supply chain.”
According to Weld Australia, the National Manufacturing Summit serves as its annual advocacy forum, bringing together representatives from industry, government, unions, universities, finance and the broader manufacturing sector to discuss policy priorities and the future direction of Australian manufacturing.
