Melbourne-based SCORKL has launched its world-first, portable, electric SCUBA Air Compressor dubbed ‘SCORKL 2.0 – Electric’, which includes an all-new electric compressor and battery pack, allowing automatic refills of the brand’s portable underwater breathing apparatus.

The company revealed in a press release that the battery pack is designed to work with “everyday 18V power tool batteries” and is compatible with Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, and Bosch equipment.

The SCORKL Battery Pack also has an LED light and USB charging ports for mobile devices.

“Traditional SCUBA air compressors are prohibitively heavy and expensive, meaning they can only be stored and operated in dive stores or in a garage,” said SCORKL creator and founder, David Hallamore.

He described the SCORKL Electric Compressor, in stark contrast, as “lightweight, inexpensive and portable.”

“Not only can you plug it into the wall, but you can power it from a boat or car battery as well,” Hallamore added.

The company also stated that ‘SCORKL 2.0 – Electric’ elevates underwater freedom to a whole new level.

While there were previously three alternatives for replenishing your SCORKL device: from a large scuba tank, a regular dive compressor, or SCORKL’s own hand pump, the SCORKL Electric Compressor now provides upgraded convenience.

“I’ve always believed that every boat needs a SCORKL for things like unfouling a propellor, cleaning under the hull, moving an anchor, and of course, incredible underwater experiences. And now, every boat needs a SCORKL Electric Compressor for effortless, unlimited refills,” Hallamore stated.

Hallamore, who was passionate about the water and the thrills found there, said he grew up around the water, and in the water.

“I love the water, and the feeling of breathing underwater is truly incredible. My dream is to give everybody else the opportunity to experience that. SCORKL makes it possible— regardless of age or experience, anyone can now feel that indescribable freedom,” he concluded.

According to SKORKL, the product is the first since their “original James Bond-esque” dive gear debuted in 2017, which generated USD 2 million in pre-orders and sold 8,000 units to 65 countries.

During the Kickstarter product launch campaign, which runs from 10:00 a.m. EDT on August 15 to 10:00 a.m. EDT on September 8, pre-orders will be accepted at a discount.
