The annual PACIA National Conference is the highlight event for the Australian chemistry industry, bringing together industry and key stakeholders to advance the conversation on crucial issues and build strong networks.

The exciting 2014 program of speakers will lead the important discussion on “Manufacturing our Future”, and the Australian chemistry industry’s vital role in a vibrant national economy.

According to the press release by PACIA, the event is attended by senior executives and decision makers from across the industry and supply chains, senior politicians and government representatives at federal and state level, research institutes, non-government organisations, other key stakeholders, thought leaders and media.

Manufacturing plays a critical role in a balanced, robust and diverse economy. It provides substantial employment, makes a significant contribution to GDP, positively shifts trading relationships, enables entire domestic supply chains to succeed, and drives innovation in products and services that enable us to enjoy our quality of life.

Given the current sharp focus on Australian manufacturing and our economic future, the Australian chemistry industry’s role as a critical enabler and solutions provider to 109 of Australia’s 111 industries is of particular strategic importance in the national discussion.

Program sessions will cover comprehensive political and economic outlook reports for “big picture” planning, and deeper exploration of key industry issues including trade and markets, energy and feedstock with a focus on domestic gas supply, innovation and broader policy settings.

The list of guest speakers at the event will include distinguished representatives from various governing bodies and the chemistry industry, including: the Hon Bob Baldwin MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Industry; Kate Carnell AO, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Peter Cleary, Vice President – LNG Markets & Eastern Australia Commercial, Santos; Philippa Dawson, General Manager – Trade, Austrade, Tony Frencham, Managing Director, Dow Chemical Australia & New Zealand; Robert Gottliebsen, Associate Editor – Business Spectator Founder – Business Review Weekly, along with many others, with further speaker announcements to be made shortly.
