The Department of State Growth is spearheading a significant trade and investment mission to the western seaboard of the USA in April 2024, aligning with the Tasmanian Trade Strategy 2019 – 2025, which identifies the region as a priority market for broad engagement.

With a focus on advanced manufacturing, advanced technologies, and various other sectors including tech, communications, digital, film, and IT, Tasmanian businesses are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to explore the vast potential of the US market.

The Tasmanian Trade Advocate – USA, instrumental in shaping a comprehensive in-market program, is actively developing numerous opportunities aimed at fostering trade growth across key states such as California, Washington State, and Texas.

The specific locations and detailed itinerary for the mission will be determined as the program takes shape, the government said in a news release.

Scheduled to run from 1 April to 5 April 2024, this trade mission aims to facilitate meaningful engagement between Tasmanian businesses and their American counterparts.

Priority consideration will be given to businesses demonstrating the potential for significant commercial outcomes or those capable of bolstering the Tasmanian brand within the US market.

Tasmanian businesses interested in joining this mission are encouraged to submit their Expression of Interest by Wednesday, 31 January 2024.

According to the government, it is essential to note that the submission of an Expression of Interest does not guarantee participation, and priority will be accorded to those with the greatest potential for impactful contributions to the Tasmanian economy.

Selected delegates will play a vital role in organising, confirming, and covering the costs associated with their international flights, accommodations, and on-ground expenses.

Compliance with the USA entry requirements applicable at the time of travel is mandatory for all selected participants.

As part of the mission, eligible businesses have the opportunity to apply for the Accelerating Trade Program, offering support through a co-contribution of up to $10,000 to facilitate in-market trade activities. Conditions for participation apply.
