Novafast, a South Australian family-owned business specialising in composite manufacturing, has been named the winner of the Manufacturing and Advanced Materials category at the 2025 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards.
The recognition was announced at a ceremony in Adelaide and qualifies the company for the National Export Awards, which will be held at Parliament House in Canberra later this year.
The award acknowledges Novafast’s investment in manufacturing technology and its progress in expanding its export markets.
“This recognition validates our strategy of leveraging cutting-edge technology to compete on the global stage while creating jobs and supporting local industry here in South Australia,” said David Figallo, Business & Strategy Manager at Novafast.
The company manufactures composite products designed to withstand corrosion in harsh environments, with applications across sectors including defence, oil and gas, mining, and water and wastewater.
Its products are exported to North America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, and the company has indicated plans to expand its manufacturing footprint beyond Australia.
“We have invested heavily in Industry 4.0-aligned automated robotic manufacturing, which has not only increased our production speed but also positioned us as an Australian-first in composite manufacturing for the defence sector,” Figallo said.
“Winning this award is a tremendous honour and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.”
According to Novafast, it is currently the only Australian manufacturer of high-performance Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) and Glass Reinforced Vinyl Ester (GRVE) composite pipes and vessels.
The company said it recently obtained direct vendor registration with Saudi Aramco and international Lloyds Register Approvals, which supported its success in securing international contracts, including a recent project to supply piping to Vietnam.
