Daikin Australia says its Daikin Park Brisbane logistics, training and sales hub has become the first industrial project in Australia to receive a Platinum WELL Core Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI).
According to the company, the Murarrie, Queensland facility received the certification under the WELL v2 Building Standard, which assesses how building design and operations support the health and well-being of occupants. Daikin said the project is the first Australian industrial site to achieve the highest certification level.
The 13,609-square-metre facility serves as Daikin Queensland’s logistics hub, supported by the Manhattan Warehouse Management System to manage fulfilment and dispatch operations for finished goods and spare parts.
It also houses a Daikin Trade Centre, training academy, showroom and the company’s Queensland sales office. Daikin said it is one of four Daikin Park locations, with a fifth planned to open in Western Australia later this year.
Michael Trad, General Manager of SCM and IT at Daikin Australia, said the project demonstrates that industrial facilities can combine operational performance with employee well-being.
“Daikin Park Brisbane represents a new benchmark for what an industrial facility can be. Achieving this high standard reflects our commitment not only to operational excellence but to the health and well-being of everyone who works within our facilities,” Trad said.
“This project shows that logistics infrastructure doesn’t have to compromise on people-centred design, and we’re proud to set that standard for the industry in the region.”
Daikin said the facility achieved Platinum certification across several WELL Building Standard categories, including air, water, light, nourishment, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community.
The company said features contributing to the certification include six electric vehicle charging stations, eight low-emission vehicle parking spaces, 1.3MW solar-powered hot water, 380 indoor plants, 40,000-litre rainwater harvesting tanks and the use of Daikin’s Heat Recovery Variable Refrigerant Volume air conditioning system.
Jack Noonan, Senior Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific at the International WELL Building Institute, said the certification reflects increasing attention to health and well-being in workplace design.

Daikin said the certification followed third-party performance testing and a final evaluation to confirm the project met WELL Core Platinum requirements.
The facility was developed by industrial property group Goodman within its Gateway@Murarrie estate and also holds a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
