As manufacturing operations adopt greater levels of automation and increasingly connected production systems, the need for flexible and reliable input/output (I/O) solutions is becoming more important.

Industrial applications can require different installation approaches, from compact systems housed within control cabinets to rugged equipment mounted directly on machinery.

In response to these varying requirements, APS Industrial is highlighting Siemens’ SIMATIC ET 200 distributed I/O portfolio, which is designed to provide manufacturers with scalable options for connecting sensors, actuators and automation systems across different industrial environments.

Flexible configurations for different applications

The SIMATIC ET 200 portfolio includes IP20 systems for cabinet-based installations and IP65/67 systems designed for direct machine mounting.

APS Industrial said the range allows users to select configurations according to the requirements of the application, installation environment and available space.

At the centre of the portfolio is a modular design that can be scaled and expanded in smaller increments. APS Industrial said this enables users to configure systems ranging from digital and analogue I/O through to modules incorporating CPU functionality, safety engineering, motor starters, frequency converters and technology functions.

The company stated the portfolio also supports specialised applications, including weighing, energy management and IO-Link connectivity.

Supporting commissioning and system management

APS Industrial said the system is designed to support faster commissioning, simplified cabling and integrated diagnostics. These features are intended to assist users during installation and help identify issues during operation.

According to APS Industrial, SIMATIC ET 200 can also be integrated with Siemens’ TIA Portal engineering environment. This allows standard and safety functions to be incorporated within a common automation solution using shared controllers, engineering and communication structures.

The portfolio provides options for distributed I/O across a range of industrial applications, from compact control cabinet layouts to machine-mounted installations.

APS Industrial said the flexibility of the SIMATIC ET 200 range allows users to configure I/O around the requirements of the application rather than adapting the application to a fixed system.
