Air Liquide will build a new air separation unit (ASU) at its existing Fairfield facility in Yennora, New South Wales, as part of an investment aimed at strengthening the supply of industrial and medical gases for Australian industries, including manufacturing.

In a news release, the company said the new facility will produce nitrogen and oxygen, which Air Liquide said are used across sectors including food and beverage processing, healthcare, mining and advanced manufacturing. The ASU is expected to begin operations in 2028.

According to Air Liquide, the investment will enhance local supply chain reliability for industrial and medical gases across Australia, while expanding the company’s existing air gas production capacity.

“Expanding our air gas capacity demonstrates Air Liquide’s long-term commitment to fueling the growth of Australian industries with essential gases they depend on every day,” said Tim Kehoe, Managing Director of Air Liquide Pacific.

“With the new ASU in New South Wales, we are reinforcing our commitment to serving our customers and enhancing our supply chain resilience,” he said.

Air Liquide Australia has operated in the country since 1957 and currently employs more than 400 people across the Pacific region. Its Australian operations include air separation plants, carbon dioxide plants and gas filling facilities.

The company said the Fairfield investment will add to its existing infrastructure and support its supply of gases to customers across several Australian sectors.

Air Liquide operates in 59 countries and employs approximately 65,000 people globally, serving industrial and healthcare customers with gases, technologies and related services.
