Carsales and ABF Group are bringing back the biggest national consumer electric vehicles show in September after a 15-year absence on the Melbourne auto calendar.

Set to take place between 22 to 24 September at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, the carsales Melbourne EV Show 2023 seeks to deliver a one-stop show for everything EV including vehicles, plug-in hybrids, e-bikes, e-scooters, charging options, and accessories from top industry players, such as Haval, Audi, Fonz, Polestar, Simplygreen, Peugeot, and McLaren.

The show will showcase interactive product displays, demonstrations, EV live sessions, and other activities for participants, including a track to test drive EVs.

It will also feature presentations from various speakers, such as Ed Stevens, AGL, Audrey Quicke, Smart Energy Council and Harman Singh of GHD Digital who will speak on a range of topics including green loans

“The event promises to bring some exciting features including several new EV’s launching at the event, new products never before seen in Australia, and the impressive Formula E race car,” said Ray Evans, chief executive officer of ABF Group.

“We are looking forward to reimagining the EV show with modern eyes and welcoming tens of thousands of EV enthusiasts across the weekend,” Evans added.

Over 83,000 electric vehicles are registered in Australia, according to the Electric Vehicle Council’s yearly recap.

The growing popularity of EVs in Australia demonstrates the importance of providing eventgoers with a 360-degree view of the industry, carsales said in a media statement.

“Our recent carsales onsite survey found 42% of respondents have considered purchasing an electric vehicle and around 24% say they believe they’ll be driving an EV by 2030,” said Paul Barlow, managing director of carsales.

“People are considering electric vehicles, however, there are still a number of unanswered questions and uncertainties – we look forward to shedding insight at the event next month.”
