The Developing Northern Australia Conference is slated to be held in Darwin from 24 to 26 July at the Darwin Convention Centre, with the theme: “Leading the Way: Empowering Northern Australia Business and Industry for Growth and Innovation.”

The annual event convenes over 550 executives and business representatives, who will share information on new projects, investment possibilities, and policy initiatives aimed at advancing the economic and social development of the north.

According to the Northern Territory government, the conference will help Darwin’s economy by bringing in an anticipated $1.4 million in delegate expenditure.

Some of the keynote speakers include Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Natasha Fyles, Minister for Northern Australia and Trade Nicole Manison, Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King, and Queensland Minister for Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water Glenn Butcher.

“The Northern Territory is a trailblazer in terms of our ability to lead infrastructure and investment commitments that will benefit the whole of Northern Australia,” stated Minister Manison.

Mansion added that cooperating with counterparts in Northern Australia provides the best potential to seize possibilities for the improvement of Australians and Territorians equally.

She remarked, “The Territory is critical for the future of energy security for Australia, and will play an important role as the world switches to renewables – this conference helps puts us on the map.”

With large resources, access to sizable markets, a robust agriculture sector, and prospects in important minerals and renewable energy, the Territory is a key player in the northern Australia agenda.
