CSF Industries, a prominent steel manufacturer based in Cairns, is poised for significant growth following the approval of a $720,000 manufacturing grant from the Queensland Government.

The grant will facilitate the acquisition of Shotblaster equipment, enabling the expansion of manufacturing capabilities and the creation of up to 15 new jobs over the next five years, the government said in a media release.

With the new equipment, CSF Industries anticipates a 67 per cent reduction in blasting times, thereby streamlining production processes and opening doors to lucrative market segments, including the shipbuilding sector.

This efficiency boost is projected to catalyse the creation of up to 15 new jobs over the next five years, injecting vitality into the local employment landscape.

According to the government, the Made in Queensland initiative has emerged as a beacon of support for Queensland businesses, with over 100 enterprises benefitting from its provisions across five rounds.

Notably, this program has been instrumental in fostering the creation and sustenance of over 6,000 jobs statewide, underscoring its pivotal role in driving economic growth and resilience.

Manufacturing Minister Glenn Butcher, during his visit to CSF Industries, lauded the company’s success story as a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to the industry.

He emphasised that initiatives like the Made in Queensland program not only empower local businesses but also stimulate private sector investment, thereby fueling economic growth and prosperity.

“I congratulate CSF Industries on its home-grown success and look forward to coming back to see the equipment in place and delivering on the promise of growth,” the minister remarked.

Cairns MP, Michael Healy, underscored the Queensland government’s commitment to fostering secure employment opportunities, highlighting the transformative impact of grants like these on local manufacturers in Far North Queensland.

He emphasised, “With the assistance of our Government, CSF will be able to expand its business to new markets, such as the shipbuilding sector.”

Additionally, Healy stressed that beyond the creation of new roles, this growth initiative will safeguard 129 full-time equivalent positions and provide training and upskilling opportunities for six staff members over the next five years.

Meanwhile, CSF Industries Director Sean Adams underscored the company’s dedication to working intelligently through automation and innovation.

“We are setting our sights on new horizons, targeting a new industry for our high-quality steel fabrication products,” Adams concluded.
