Kennametal, an industrial leader in metal cutting solutions, has launched its Machinist of the Year program – an annual awards initiative aimed at celebrating the craftsmanship and innovation of the company’s long-term customers.

In its statement regarding the launch, the company said its regional marketing teams in the Americas, EMA and APAC and India will each recognise a machinist who showcases the very best of their region’s machining excellence.

To enter the program, participants must have been active users of Kennametal products in their shops for at least a year. Candidates are required to post a short video on their own social media channels, explaining why they should be selected and how they utilise the brand’s tools.

Entries must include the hashtag #KMTMachinist and tag the company to be considered.

“Our global search for Machinists of the Year is more than a contest—it’s a celebration of the partnerships and expertise that drive our industry forward,” said Scott Etling, the company’s vice president for product marketing management.

“Machinists are the backbone of manufacturing,” said Eddie McBarnett, vice president of marketing and strategy at Kennametal. “Kennametal’s innovations have always been driven by the needs of these skilled professionals with tooling solutions that cut faster, last longer and help shops achieve greater precision and profitability.”

Winners from each region will receive a comprehensive prize package that includes:

  • USD 7,500 worth of Machinist of the Year toolbox and Kennametal tooling, along with exclusive merchandise
  • Invitation to lead live machining demonstrations at a global trade show
  • Official designation as a Kennametal brand ambassador
  • Features across Kennametals’ website, blog, and social media channels

The program is currently underway following its February launch. Regional nominees will be announced, and voting will be in June. Final winners are scheduled to be revealed at trade shows and online in September and October.
