NDC Plastic Moulding, a Queensland-based manufacturer, announced its investment in Markforged Industrial Additive solutions in a move to boost local manufacturing capabilities.

Nathan De Candia, the founder of NDC Plastic Moulding, highlighted the rationale behind this investment, citing concerns over escalating labour costs, intellectual property risks, and logistical challenges associated with foreign manufacturing.

“While it can work well for specific cases – like moulding extralarge parts or assembling multi-component products. It may seem cheaper on paper, but for product design, prototyping, and rapid supply of critical components, local wins every time,” De Candia explained.

With a vision to infuse fresh value into Australian innovation and industry, De Candia founded NDC Plastic Moulding in 2023, driven by a blend of technical expertise and business acumen.

According to the firms, the partnership with Core Additive, a provider of Additive Manufacturing solutions, signifies NDC Plastic Moulding’s commitment to empowering local businesses with cutting-edge technologies and comprehensive support.

Data reported in the media release revealed additive manufacturing, a rapidly evolving field, is gaining traction across various industries as companies seek to address supply chain disruptions, mitigate labour costs, and embrace on-demand part printing.

James Staples, CEO and founder of Core Additive, underscored the significance of this partnership in meeting the surging demand for innovative technology solutions among Australian enterprises.

“This partnership plays a pivotal role in enabling companies to leverage on-demand part printing through NDC Plastic Moulding,” Staples noted.
