Sparc Technologies has completed the first commercial delivery of its ecosparc® graphene additive to a Tier 1 coatings customer, marking a further step in the manufacturing and commercialisation of the Australian-developed technology, according to Sparc.
In an ASX announcement, the company said it fulfilled the 160kg order from its production facility in Adelaide, South Australia, for use in a high-performance protective coating.
Sparc said the delivery follows the launch of two ecosparc®-enhanced coatings products since May 2026 and represents the first widely used protective coating product to incorporate the company’s graphene additive.
Managing director Nick O’Loughlin said the milestone followed several years of research, development and field trials.
“The first commercial delivery of ecosparc® for use by a Tier 1 coatings customer marks a significant milestone for Sparc following several years of research, development and field trials,” O’Loughlin said.
Sparc said its existing commercial manufacturing capacity could support increased volumes without additional capital expenditure. Current production capacity is sufficient to dose approximately 4.5 million litres of protective coatings annually, according to the company.
“With commercial sales underway and two coatings manufacturers, including AkzoNobel, having launched ecosparc® enhanced products since May 2026, Sparc has established a strong platform to become a leading graphene additive supplier to the coatings industry,” O’Loughlin said.
The company said it is currently progressing more than 20 active testing programs and is targeting multiple additional commercial product launches over the next six to 12 months.
Sparc also said it would continue developing its SparcES™ product range for electrostatic and conductive coatings, targeting applications including data centres, semiconductor manufacturing and other industrial uses.
