Manufacturing capacity in Australia’s clean energy supply chain is in focus following the Federal Government’s decision to open national consultation on domestic manufacturing of wind and transmission towers, a move welcomed by industry body Weld Australia as a step toward strengthening local manufacturing capability.

Manufacturing sovereignty and Australia’s defence capability will be the focus of the 2026 National Manufacturing Summit, with Weld Australia calling for sponsors and speakers to participate in the event to be held in Adelaide on 29 and 30 July 2026.

Weld Australia has called on both federal and state governments to urgently address the impact of east coast gas exports on domestic energy prices, warning that manufacturers are reaching a breaking point.
