The Victorian Government has announced support for two advanced manufacturing site upgrades in Ballarat, aiming to boost regional jobs and strengthen the city’s position as a manufacturing hub.

The projects have been backed by the state to enhance local industry capabilities and create new employment opportunities.

Victorian Government support contributed to a new factory for JG King Building Group, which consolidates the company’s home building, window, and door production into one location. The facility is expected to streamline operations and generate 15 jobs for local workers.

According to the Victorian Government, the $6 million capital investment features a solar-powered assembly line equipped with advanced manufacturing software to produce energy-efficient double-glazed doors and windows for residential builds.

The products are designed to make homes more energy smart, comfortable, and affordable to live in, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Meanwhile, at CE Bartlett’s Wendouree factory, a three-phase expansion has added floorspace to its general assembly and water tank liner areas.

The funding has also enabled the purchase of advanced sewing machinery, supporting the creation of 22 local jobs.

According to the Victorian government, the upgraded site will enhance the company’s ability to produce a wider range of advanced textile products for clients in agriculture, viticulture, transport, blinds, and defence.

The company also expects to meet growing demand from the camping and outdoor recreation sectors, particularly in trailer manufacturing.

The Victorian Government said the investments form part of a broader commitment to regional growth, noting it has invested $47 billion over the past decade to support local communities and businesses.
