Aurora Labs has achieved AS 9100D certification, an internationally recognised quality management standard for the aviation, space and defence sectors, in a move the company says strengthens its ability to pursue commercial opportunities and participate in global aerospace and defence supply chains.
The company said the certification was awarded following an independent, multi-stage audit of its quality management system by certification body ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board).
Aurora said the certification provides internationally recognised validation that its quality and manufacturing systems meet the standards required for aerospace and defence organisations.
According to Aurora, AS 9100D incorporates ISO 9001 requirements while introducing additional aerospace and defence-specific controls relating to operational risk management, product safety, configuration management and counterfeit parts prevention. The certification is maintained through annual surveillance audits.
The company said achieving the certification satisfies a key supplier qualification requirement for many aerospace and defence procurement programs, supporting engagement with defence primes, propulsion companies and international aerospace manufacturers as it advances towards commercial production.
Managing Director Rebekah Letheby said the certification marked an important milestone for the company.
“Achieving AS 9100D certification is a significant milestone for Aurora and provides independent international validation of the manufacturing, quality and operational systems we have established across the business,” Letheby said.
She said the certification strengthens Aurora’s ability to participate in aerospace and defence procurement programs and provides customers with confidence in its quality framework.
“For prospective customers, the certification provides confidence that Aurora operates within a globally recognised aerospace quality framework capable of supporting demanding, mission-critical applications,” Letheby said.
Aurora said the certification also reinforces its transition from technology development towards international commercial supply.
The company develops 3D metal printed parts, metal additive manufacturing technologies and propulsion systems for unmanned aerial systems used in the defence sector.
