Australian manufacturers are continuing to invest in local production, innovation and sustainability across a wide range of industries. From textiles and packaging to construction and advanced manufacturing, Australian Made licensees are developing products tailored to local conditions while supporting Australian jobs and capabilities.
In exclusive interviews with Australian Manufacturing, the following Australian Made licensees share how manufacturing in Australia has shaped their growth, product development and long-term investment in local industry.
Quality with provenance
Celebrating 25 years of manufacturing in Australia, Kelly & Windsor Australia continues to produce premium bedding using Australian-grown alpaca and merino wool. By managing every stage of production locally, the company says it delivers complete quality control, traceability and ethical manufacturing.
“Provenance matters, and our customers value knowing exactly where their bedding comes from,” the company said, adding that demand for natural fibres and transparent supply chains is creating new opportunities for Australian textile manufacturing.
The company shared that maintaining local manufacturing also enables it to support Australian wool growers while preserving specialist textile expertise.
Innovation built in Australia
APT Asia Pacific describes itself as Australia’s only sports surface manufacturer producing its own yarn, saying local manufacturing drives innovation and quality. Its partnership with Paintback has also created sports surfaces made with recycled paint, reducing landfill waste.
“The Australian Made logo represents far more than where a product is manufactured – it symbolises quality, reliability and trust,” the company said, noting that Australian-developed technologies are now being adopted across Sport Group’s global manufacturing network.
According to the company, local research, development and manufacturing have enabled new technologies to be tested and commercialised more quickly.
Circular manufacturing in action
Whites Group is transforming locally sourced recycled plastics into durable home improvement products, demonstrating how Australian manufacturing can support a circular economy while creating local jobs.
“Waste should be seen as a resource, not a problem,” the company said, adding that Australian Made certification reinforces its commitment to local manufacturing, sustainability and responsible product development.
The company also sees opportunities for Australian manufacturers to expand the use of recycled materials while creating new markets for recovered resources.
Engineering for local industry
With four generations of manufacturing heritage, Packserv designs and builds packaging machinery tailored to Australian manufacturers. Its Industry 4.0-enabled equipment delivers real-time production insights while being supported by local service and technical expertise.
Managing Director Nathan Wardell said the company’s customer-first approach continues to drive innovation. “The best ideas come from the factory floor,” he noted.
Packserv says designing, building and supporting machinery locally allows it to respond quickly to customer needs while strengthening Australia’s manufacturing capability.
According to the company, this close connection with customers has helped it develop practical solutions that improve productivity while lowering barriers to adopting advanced manufacturing technologies.
Built for Australian conditions
Since 1984, Black Duck SeatCovers has grown from a regional Western Australian business into a recognised manufacturer supplying industries including agriculture, mining, construction and four-wheel driving.
The company says keeping design and production together in Australia enables rapid product development and consistent quality.
“The Australian Made certification represents authenticity and reflects the values that have guided the business since day one,” the company said.
It says remaining in regional Western Australia has also allowed the business to retain specialist skills while staying connected to the industries it serves.
Smarter construction solutions
Award-winning manufacturer MULTIPANEL has built its reputation by developing waterproof building systems specifically for Australian construction. The company says manufacturing locally has enabled it to work closely with builders and installers while responding quickly to industry trends such as prefabrication and modular construction.
“The Australian Made logo is a mark of trust,” the company said, adding that local manufacturing provides customers with confidence through Australian support, reliable supply and products designed for local conditions.
According to the company, manufacturing close to customers has helped simplify wet area construction by developing products designed specifically for Australian building practices and compliance requirements.
Looking ahead, MULTIPANEL said it believes Australian manufacturers are well placed to deliver smarter construction technologies that improve productivity and help address housing and workforce challenges.
While each business operates in a different sector, their experiences point to a common theme: manufacturing locally enables closer collaboration with customers, greater control over product development and stronger investment in Australian skills and capability.
