Manufacturing reliability and equipment longevity in agricultural spraying production are being supported through the use of cable harnessing solutions from LAPP Australia, according to agricultural equipment specialist HARDI Australia, which says the components are helping reduce downtime and improve performance across its manufacturing operations in Adelaide.

HARDI Australia, which operates a major 10-hectare manufacturing facility in Adelaide producing spraying equipment ranging from small hand sprayers to large-scale trailer systems and boom sprayers, said the partnership supports its need for durable components suited to demanding Australian conditions.

“Australian conditions are often harsher than those typical in Europe, so our gear needs to be manufactured to withstand the elements,” said HARDI Australia Chief Commercial Officer Zac Harnett. “Having a local manufacturing facility allows us to tailor our equipment to Australian conditions.”

LAPP Australia’s Harnessing Solutions Division supplies pre-assembled cable assemblies designed for industrial use, which the company says are fully traceable, standards-compliant, and ready for installation, helping simplify manufacturing processes for HARDI.

LAPP Harnessing Solutions General Manager Stuart Fleming said the approach is intended to reduce complexity on production lines. “Agricultural spraying equipment contains a significant number of cables and components. We deliver these assembled, labelled, and ready to go, which means the HARDI team can install them quickly, and deliver faster to their customers,” he said.

HARDI said the cable harnessing systems were selected for their resistance to chemicals and ultraviolet exposure, as well as overmoulded connectors and energy chain-rated cables designed to withstand continuous motion in equipment booms.

The company also highlighted traceability as a key manufacturing requirement, with every component serialised to support maintenance and servicing.

“Traceability is huge for us,” Harnett said. “We serialise every part for every customer, and we provide training on this for our dealers across Australia. If anything needs replacing or repair, we can find the exact component without delay.”

He added that the focus on durability aligns with the company’s emphasis on long-term product performance in the field, noting that supplier support plays a role in meeting seasonal production deadlines.

“LAPP has helped us meet fast installation times and has worked with us to meet any challenges,” Harnett said. “They’ve been helpful and easy to work with.”

LAPP Australia said it expects the partnership to continue expanding as HARDI explores additional manufacturing projects involving its harnessing division.
