Australian cobalt company Jervois Global Limited has announced that Jervois Switzerland, the commercial arm of Jervois, has entered into a raw material supply agreement with Traxys Europe.

The agreement is intended for the supply of mixed hydroxide product (MHP) for the restart phase of the e São Miguel Paulista (SMP) nickel-cobalt refinery in Brazil, which is anticipated to restart at the end of Q1 2024.

According to the ASX-listed company, a base load of MHP feed up to about 25 per cent of SMP’s annual nickel feed needs is scheduled to be provided over a first period of 36 months.

Initially, Jervois is restarting SMP in a gradual, capital-effective manner, at a lower rate than its previous 25,000 mtpa nickel capacity, based on the April-completed Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) 2022.

Initial refined production is anticipated to be 10,000 mtpa for nickel and 2,000 mtpa for cobalt metal cathode

Meanwhile, Jervois remains engaged in ongoing discussions with other MHP suppliers for additional feed supply.

In November, Jervois announced that its SMP refinery final investment decision had been approved.

It has started to recommence capital deployment in 2022.
