Victoria’s manufacturing sector is set to receive a boost through an expansion of research, development and production capabilities at Rinnai Australia’s facility, according to the Victorian Government.
The expansion will enhance the company’s ability to develop new heating, cooling and hot water technologies while increasing the design and manufacture of energy-efficient appliance solutions.
The Victorian Government said the investment is expected to support innovation across Rinnai’s product range and contribute to the state’s clean energy transition.
Rinnai Australia employs 442 staff across three Victorian sites and supplies heating, cooling and hot water appliance solutions to domestic and international markets.
The company recently participated in the Victorian Government’s Digital Jobs program, which aims to build advanced digital and artificial intelligence skills among workers.
The government said the program has helped strengthen manufacturing capability within the business while supporting high-skilled employment opportunities in Victoria.
The announcement comes as the Victorian Government continues efforts to grow the state’s industrial sector through initiatives including the Victorian Industry Policy and the $150 million Victorian Investment Fund.
According to the government, these programs are designed to attract investment and support targeted industries such as advanced machinery manufacturing, with the goal of creating jobs and expanding opportunities for Victorian businesses and workers.
Victoria has Australia’s largest manufacturing workforce, employing more than 260,000 people, according to the state government.
