Australia’s manufacturing industry took centre stage  as Weld Australia hosted the 2025 Queensland and Northern Territory Welding Excellence Awards in Brisbane, recognising outstanding achievements in fabrication, innovation, training, and safety across the sector.

Weld Australia has called for greater support from industry and community organisations to help expand the Buddy Up Program, an initiative aimed at improving literacy among people in prison through peer-led learning. 

Weld Australia has called on both federal and state governments to urgently address the impact of east coast gas exports on domestic energy prices, warning that manufacturers are reaching a breaking point.

Weld Australia has called on the Federal Government to urgently invest in its vocational welding training program, following the release of a new Productivity Commission report showing Australia is failing to meet most of its Closing the Gap targets, particularly in areas such as Indigenous incarceration and youth detention.

Weld Australia has launched its Reciprocal Membership Program, a new initiative aimed at fostering stronger collaboration across the welding, manufacturing, construction, defence, mining, and transport industries.

Registrations have officially opened for the 2025 National Manufacturing Summit, with the event set to be held on 24 July at the Shangri-La Sydney and a welcome dinner scheduled for 23 July.
