It follows last month’s announcement that the Government will develop a new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry strategy to address growing demand for ICT products and services, access to ICT skills and high speed broadband.

Mr Somyurek said that the Andrews Government will provide $400,000 over four years for the event, signalling its strong commitment to strengthen Victoria’s reputation as the hub of the ICT industry in Australia.

“By supporting the iAwards we are securing Victoria as the ICT industry hub in Australia, helping to drive innovation and create skilled jobs. We’re getting Victoria back to work by turning our most innovative and promising ideas into a reality,” the Minister said in a media release.

The iAwards, to be held in Melbourne on 27 August 2015, celebrate Australian start-up companies, established firms, students and other young innovators at the cutting edge of technology innovation.
