Altech Batteries Ltd has announced that the deadline to meet the conditions attached to a €46.7 million German government funding approval for its CERENERGY® sodium chloride solid-state battery project has been extended to 30 September 2026.

In an ASX announcement, Altech said the funding relates to the CERENERGY® battery project being developed in Saxony by Altech Batteries GmbH.

The project had previously received conditional binding funding approval under Germany’s federal STARK economic development program, with the grant covering approximately 30 per cent of eligible project capital expenditure, up to €46.7 million.

The original funding approval was conditional on the project achieving full financial close by 30 June 2026 and receiving parliamentary approval under Germany’s 2026 Federal Budget.

Altech said it has now been notified by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy that the deadline for achieving full project financial close has been extended from 30 June 2026 to 30 September 2026.

According to the company, the funding is provided through the federal STARK program, which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in cooperation with the European Union.

The program is intended to support regions undergoing structural change by promoting environmentally, economically and socially sustainable development.

Altech said the extension supports the continued development of its CERENERGY® technology, which is being developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Society.

The company describes the sodium chloride solid-state battery as an alternative to lithium-ion batteries for stationary energy storage applications, particularly in the European market.
