According to the company’s press release, both businesses will report directly to Amcor Managing Director and CEO Ron Delia.

“This is an exciting development for Amcor’s Flexibles business. The new geographic based structure will allow our Flexibles business groups to focus on the strategic priorities in each region and to accelerate profitable growth. At the same time we will ensure stronger collaboration across regions, building on our position as the global leader in flexible packaging to deliver greater value for all stakeholders,” Delia said.

Amcor Flexibles is the company’s arm responsible for pharmaceuticals, hospital supplies and food and drinks pouches.

The Flexibles Americas will be run by Tom Cochran, currently Vice President, and will focus on accelerating the company’s growth in the North American market and pursuing opportunities in Latin America, regions where Amcor’s market share is less than 5%.

Mr Cochran joined Amcor in 2006 as Vice President Sales and Marketing Amcor Flexibles Healthcare. He was appointed Vice President Amcor Flexibles Americas, Medical & Extrusion in 2010.

The Flexibles Europe, Middle East and Africa business will be run by Peter Konieczny, currently President Amcor Tobacco Packaging, and will continue to focus on growth driven by innovation, cost and efficiency improvements as well as opportunities in emerging markets.

Before joining Amcor in February 2010 as President Amcor Tobacco Packaging, Mr Konieczny had six years of experience in the packaging industry as President of Silgan White Cap, a global organisation specialising in metal and plastic closures for the food and beverage industries.

These changes will become effective on 1 July 2015, the company said.
