Eight industry-leading Western Australian businesses, including two manufacturing firms, are set to showcase their products to a global audience during the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exposition this week.

Among the selected firms is Melville-based AVI Pty Ltd, a company that designs, engineers and manufactures hardened data networking and specialised communications systems, which thrive in hostile environments.

AVI’s specialised hardware includes router modems and hardened switches, which can be managed remotely by the company’s Centralised Configuration Management System.

Operating from Belmont, Blacktree Technology, a firm that designs, engineers, manufactures, installs, and maintains a variety of communication systems, will also present in the biannual event.

The expo, which runs from 12-15 September, aims to expand business collaboration opportunities with global partners.

DSEI, Europe’s largest defence and security expo, will bring together over 1,500 exhibitors globally, highlighting defence and technology growth areas as well as the development of new technologies.

Defence Industry Minister Paul Papalia stated that the Defence and Security Equipment International expo provides an opportunity for Western Australian companies to impress and expand commercial prospects with international partners.

“From autonomous underwater vehicles to rapidly deployable communications towers, and medically accurate training aids, the travelling businesses will showcase their unique products to global industry leaders,” the minister said.

He also stated that during the trip, he will look into the best ways for WA to expand its workforce and infrastructure to meet the requirements of the AUKUS agreement.

Other companies that will participate in the expo include Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems, Critical Infrastructure Technologies (CiTech), DUG Technology Pty Ltd, Onetide, Radlink Communications, and TraumaSim.

An International Business Forum will be held as part of the expo, allowing for high-level business networking and supplier negotiations.

While in the UK, Minister Papalia will also visit Royal Navy sustainment operations as WA seeks to increase its capability for the AUKUS Submarine Rotational Force-West (SRF-West).
