Tivan Limited has entered into a contract with Larrakia Energy to deliver a maximum of 30 MW of renewable energy starting in 2026 to support the former’s ambitious Vanadium Electrolyte Facility project at Middle Arm.

According to the government, the collaboration between Tivan Limited and Larrakia Energy represents a significant stride toward the Northern Territory’s objective of becoming a frontrunner in low-emissions energy and critical minerals processing.

“We look forward to the positive impact of this collaboration, as it drives economic growth, job opportunities, and sustainable energy solutions,” Minister for Industry Nicole Manison said.

“This puts Darwin on the map when it comes to the critical minerals and renewable technologies needed for the energy transition,” the minister noted.

The government also said the Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct is set to act as a catalyst for innovations in clean energy and economic growth.

A cornerstone of this vision is Tivan Limited’s ambitious project, the large-scale Vanadium Electrolyte Facility scheduled for Middle Arm.

This project harmonises perfectly with the overarching objective of creating a renewable value chain for long-duration energy storage in the Northern Australia region.

Key players in advancing sustainability within the region are the Larrakia Development Corporation, an Aboriginal organisation representing the Larrakia people, and Larrakia Energy, primarily under the ownership of the Larrakia Development Corporation.

Their pivotal roles are instrumental in driving sustainable development practices in the region, the NT government noted.

Minister Eva Lawler expressed her appreciation for the partnership between Tivan Limited and Larrakia Energy, emphasising that it consolidates the renewable energy value chain in the Northern Territory.

“This creates jobs for Territorians, in an inclusive way, that will see benefits across the entire Territory,” Lawler remarked.

She added, “The Middle Arm Sustainable Development Precinct will be a global leader in the energy transition and is strategically important not just to Australia but our whole region.”
