A Gippsland manufacturing company is set to more than double its annual production of building kits following an upgrade supported by the Victorian Government’s Regional Development Victoria (RDV).
Drouin West Timber and Truss will install robotic production equipment and software at its Drouin West site through support from the regional stream of the Victorian Investment Fund, according to RDV.
The company manufactures and installs panel building systems using Modern Method of Construction techniques, producing wall and floor panels, roof and floor trusses, wall frames and associated timber products.
In a news release, RDV said the upgrades were expected to more than double the number of building kits manufactured by the company annually by 2030, while also creating six new roles at the site.
The 46-year-old manufacturer is expected to use the investment to increase productivity and position the business to pursue future growth opportunities.
According to RDV, the completed works will improve access for Victorian builders to building kits and support housing construction while strengthening local supply chains.
The Victorian Investment Fund is designed to accelerate strategic investments across the state, with a focus on areas including advanced manufacturing and defence, health technologies and medical research, the circular economy, digital technologies and agribusiness.
A dedicated $50 million regional stream of the fund is supporting regional businesses with growth potential to undertake capital investment and create jobs in regional cities and towns.
RDV said the funding had also been used to support upgrades at Tongala Nutrition’s dairy processing facility in northern Victoria, new equipment and systems at Springhill Farm, and the establishment of a new flour mill by George Weston Foods in Ballarat.
RDV said support for regional businesses was part of the Victorian Government’s broader efforts to strengthen economic development and investment across rural and regional Victoria.
