Manufacturing capacity in Southeast Queensland is set to expand following the start of construction on a new Yarrabilba facility by Neumann Steel, marking an investment in its manufacturing footprint and long-term regional growth strategy.
In a media release, the company said the new development will strengthen its local manufacturing capability, improve service delivery and support increased demand across Southeast Queensland as residential and commercial activity continues to grow.
“By expanding at Yarrabilba, we’re improving how we serve our customers – bringing production and distribution closer to the communities we supply, boosting reliability, and helping deliver the homes, jobs and infrastructure that will help shape Southeast Queensland’s future,” said Kathy Bartley, General Manager at Neumann Steel.
Located in the Yarrabilba Business Park, the project is being delivered in partnership with Stockland and Rycon Constructions, with the company noting the development has been planned to align with broader regional growth.
“Working alongside Stockland and Rycon Constructions, this project has been carefully planned to support Neumann Steel’s growth and the region’s long-term development,” said Paul Watson, National Projects Manager at Neumann Steel.
The site will comprise a 4,340-square-metre facility on a 12,100-square-metre industrial block, with manufacturing capability expected to increase once additional machinery such as shearlines and benders for reinforcing steel are installed.
According to the company, the expansion is intended to improve production capacity and strengthen supply to market, while also reducing transport distances to key growth corridors.
Mayor Jon Raven of the City of Logan said the development reflects ongoing economic activity in the region, highlighting its potential to generate local employment and investment.
“This is what growth looks like for our city: local jobs, new investment, and more chances for people to work close to home,” he said.
Stockland said the project fits within its long-term development vision for Yarrabilba.
“Neumann Steel’s future operations within the Stockland Yarrabilba Business Park are a strong fit, with the business well aligned to the ongoing residential and commercial growth planned for Yarrabilba and the broader Logan region,” said Andrew Erzetich, Senior Development Manager.
The facility is expected to employ around 20 to 25 people once operational, with approximately half of the roles to be recruited locally. Construction is underway, with completion targeted for the end of March 2027, subject to progress and commissioning.
Neumann Steel said it will continue to provide updates as the project develops.
