Regional Development Minister Don Punch has inaugurated an all-weather production facility at Evoke Living Homes, a distinguished modular and prefabricated home builder located in Northam.

With backing from a $200,000 grant provided by the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant program in 2021, the construction of the 2,000-square-metre sheltered facility allows Evoke Living Homes to decrease construction delays and increase production by 20 per cent.

This expansion translates to an additional 8-10 new homes constructed annually within the region, the government said in a news release.

In response to increased production capacity, the builder has expanded its workforce, welcoming six new tradespeople and two apprentices.

This strategic expansion not only supports heightened production levels but also positions the business for entry into new markets.

Minister Punch’s visit to Northam included an inspection of another RED project site at the Avon Industrial Park, where Tradesales is underway with the construction of a new commercial office.

Additionally, he toured the Mortlock Gardens key worker housing precinct and engaged in discussions with the Shire of Northam to address the town’s growth priorities.

The minister commended Evoke Living Homes as a pioneering force in the Wheatbelt region and expressed satisfaction with the Cook Government’s ability to aid in the provision of essential homes in regional areas.

“By supporting local initiatives through the RED Grants program, our Government is demonstrating its commitment and support to diversifying small businesses and enterprises in the region,” Punch noted.

He added, “To date, RED Grants have injected $4.2 million into the Wheatbelt economy across 48 projects, leveraging more than $27 million in private sector investment.”

Round 7 of the RED Grant program is scheduled to commence later this month.
