Schneider Electric, a global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has joined the Sustainability Tech Council as a founding member.

This strategic partnership underscores Schneider Electric’s commitment to its sustainability agenda and its dedication to assisting Australian organizations in achieving their own sustainability targets, the company said in a news release.

The Sustainability Tech Council, a pioneering initiative, aims to harness a collective commitment to address climate change, establishing a new sustainability agenda through collaborative industry action and innovative technology solutions.

By prioritising transparency, education, awareness, and standardisation, the council seeks to democratise access to sustainability information for government entities, enterprises, and small to medium-sized businesses across various sectors.

Bringing together influential companies and executives who share a common commitment to addressing climate change, the council’s launch members include tech industry giants Cisco, Microsoft, Data#3, Moxie Insights, and NTT.

Joe Craparotta, vice president of IT Business at Schneider Electric, expressed pride in the company’s role as a founding member of the Sustainability Tech Council.

“Schneider Electric is proud to be a founding member of the Sustainability Tech Council and to hold itself accountable to sustainability targets, as well as sharing its knowledge and insights to support others,” he noted.

Craparotta acknowledged the challenges organisations face in the realm of sustainability and sees the Council as a significant step forward in facilitating progress by making sustainability more accessible.

According to Schneider, the launch of the Sustainability Tech Council marks a crucial moment in the industry, with key areas of focus including green data centres, energy-efficient technologies, supply chain sustainability, and e-waste management.

These initiatives are complemented by a cross-industry commitment to training, advocacy, and the establishment of standards.

The Council’s inclusive approach also aims to cater to organisations of all sizes and sectors, promoting a collective effort towards a more sustainable future.
