Victoria’s job growth ranks highest in the nation, with approximately 39,200 new positions filled last month, according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics

The figure is significantly more than any other state and means more than 100,000 new jobs have been created in the past two months when combined with February’s results.

This also means there are more Victorians than ever in the workforce, with the participation rate now standing at a record high of 67.7 per cent.

The state has led the nation in gobs growth since September 2020.

Overall, there are more than 3.6 million employed Victorians, with 70 per cent comprised of full-timers.

The ABS report also shows that Victoria’s growth in final demand, which is a key measure combining private and public spending and investment, increased by 4.1 per cent over 2022 compared to the national average of 3.3 per cent.

“Victorians dug deep to get through the pandemic and the support we provided in those tough months and years has meant we could bounce back quickly,” said Treasurer Tim Pallas. “Victoria is moving ahead strongly and it means all Victorians can have great confidence in the future.”
