Volgren’s Eagle Farm manufacturing facility in Queensland has begun delivering 50 new high-capacity articulated buses to the New South Wales public transport network, according to the bus manufacturer.

In a news release, Volgren said the first vehicles from the program entered service with Busways and Transdev John Holland earlier this year, with further buses now being delivered into the NSW network.

The company said the program highlights the role of its Brisbane-based facility within its national manufacturing network, following more than 25 years of production at the site.

According to Volgren, Eagle Farm has built and delivered more than 2,000 buses since commencing operations, including a long-standing focus on articulated bus manufacturing.

Volgren said the facility now operates two dedicated production lines, with one producing articulated buses and the other manufacturing rigid city buses.

The company said articulated vehicles built at Eagle Farm are currently being delivered to customers across three states.

The manufacturer said the NSW program demonstrates Eagle Farm’s ability to produce complex, high-capacity vehicles for customers outside Queensland.

Volgren said the facility’s development reflects continued growth in its workforce, production capacity and technical capability as it takes on increasingly complex vehicle programs for customers across Australia.

The company said the expansion has supported its ability to manufacture buses for operators and transport authorities responding to increasing passenger demand across urban public transport networks.

The latest NSW deliveries build on Eagle Farm’s established role in Volgren’s articulated bus manufacturing operations and its broader contribution to the company’s national production network.
