Intralogistics solutions provider Kardex has officially opened a new Australian office in Lidcombe Business Park, Western Sydney, expanding its presence and customer support capability in the region.
According to Kardex, the new facility underscores the company’s long-term commitment to the Australian and New Zealand markets and its goal of bringing automation expertise closer to local customers.
The office opening was marked by a ceremony featuring live demonstrations of Kardex’s automation technologies, speeches, and entertainment celebrating the company’s Swiss heritage.
In recognition of Kardex’s origins, the event began with traditional Swiss Alphorn music, attended by Swiss Consul General Elisabeth Bösch Malinen, along with representatives from Kardex, AutoStore, customers, and media.
Speeches were delivered by the Consul General, Alan Gemmell, Kardex Head of Commercial for Remstar, and Daniel Hauser, Kardex Head of the AutoStore Solutions Business Unit. The event was hosted by Grant Smith, Kardex Director of Business Development AutoStore ANZ, who led efforts to establish the new Sydney office.
Kardex said the ribbon-cutting ceremony, accompanied by the ringing of Swiss bells, symbolised the company’s continuing growth in Australia.
Guests were given guided tours of the new showroom, featuring live demonstrations of the Kardex Vertical Lift Module (VLM) and the AutoStore Grid in operation. The event concluded with networking sessions and discussions with Kardex automation experts.
As part of the showcase, Kardex demonstrated its automation portfolio, which includes the AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) and the Remstar Vertical Lift Module (VLM).
The company said AutoStore’s modular and high-density design enables businesses to increase throughput, optimise space, and scale operations efficiently, while the VLM system enhances productivity by delivering goods directly to the operator within a compact footprint.
Alan Gemmell, Kardex head of Commercial for Remstar, said the new Sydney office is a milestone in the company’s ongoing growth in the region.
“We have had a great day at our new premises, generating excitement about the potential our intralogistics solutions offer companies in Australia to improve the efficiency, safety and scalability of their operations,” Gemmell said.
“The new office provides an excellent resource, with a showroom, expert staff and a prime location in Lidcombe Business Park. It demonstrates our commitment to the Australian and New Zealand market, as well as our desire to provide our customers with the best possible localised support and automation solutions that work for them.”
Daniel Hauser, Kardex Head of the AutoStore Solutions Business Unit, said expanding the company’s Australian presence allows Kardex to meet growing demand for automated storage systems.
“At Kardex, we work closely with our customers to support them throughout their automation journey,” Hauser said.
“We are delighted to expand our presence in Australia and we are seeing a real appetite among businesses of all sizes for the AutoStore system. Our widening portfolio of innovative purpose-built tools to enhance AutoStore systems sets us apart, helping speed up operations, eliminate errors, and futureproof warehouses.”
Kardex said the new Sydney office will serve as both a customer support hub and a technology demonstration centre, reflecting the company’s ongoing investment in providing local expertise and innovative intralogistics solutions to businesses across Australia and New Zealand.
