Several members of Engineers Australia have been recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours, with the organisation congratulating recipients for their contributions to engineering, education, industry and the broader community.

The honours were announced by the Governor-General, Her Excellency Sam Mostyn AC, as part of the annual awards recognising Australians who have made significant contributions to society.

According to Engineers Australia, the recognition reflects the role engineers play across a range of sectors that support Australia’s economic and social development.

Engineers Australia National President and Board Chair, Tom Goerke, said the inclusion of engineers in this year’s honours list highlighted the profession’s contribution to the nation.

“Congratulations to all Engineers Australia members who received this year’s King’s Birthday Honours. This recognition highlights your professional excellence and leadership in innovation within the field,” Goerke said.

“We are proud to celebrate your achievements, which serve as inspiration for excellence in engineering.”

Engineers Australia Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew said the achievements of those recognised demonstrated the impact of the profession beyond engineering itself.

“We are proud of our members included in this year’s honours. Their accomplishments are not just about success within the profession but also a recognition of their outstanding contributions to the nation,” Madew said.

Among those recognised as Officers of the Order of Australia was Mark Sebastian Wainwright, honoured for distinguished service to tertiary education administration, academic research, Australia–China relations and governance roles.

Recipients of the Member of the Order of Australia included Matthew Bruce Ames, Alexander Baitch, Mark Beaufoy Bush, Marika Calfas, Terence Jeyaretnam, Anthony Shane Kittel and Ljubo Vlacic.

Engineers Australia members awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia were Frank Laurence Meng, Emad Walid Shublaq and John Langley Watsford.

Engineers Australia said the honours recognise the recipients’ professional achievements and contributions across fields including education, health, infrastructure, transport, sustainability, defence and community service.
