American military customer, with a US$383,275 (approximately A$532,000) purchase covering more than 340 aerial target drones, Ground Control Stations and operator training.
The order, received through US reseller Mountain Horse Solutions, is about three times the value of the customer’s previous purchase and expands the relationship beyond hardware supply to include an Operator Training Course, according to Boresight.
The BQ-400 swarming-capable aerial target drones will be used to support US military training in counter-drone warfare, with the systems designed to replicate drone threats in realistic and repeatable training scenarios.
In a news release, Boresight said the order was significant because it came from an existing military customer, with the larger purchase reflecting increased use of aerial targets and growing confidence in the company’s technology and training capability.
Boresight Managing Director and CEO Justin Olde said the repeat order demonstrated the continued use of the company’s aerial targets for counter-drone training.
“This repeat order is testament to the ongoing effectiveness of Boresight’s aerial target drones in providing cost-effective, reliable and repeatable mission counter drone training,” Olde said.
The order will be manufactured at Boresight’s expanded US facility, allowing the company to supply American-made products to North American military customers while reducing delivery lead times and costs, the company said.
Olde said the US facility would also allow Boresight to respond more directly to customer requirements.
“The ability to service this and other North American customers directly from our US facility means that our delivery lead times and costs are reduced, providing more responsiveness whilst driving down overheads,” he said.
Boresight said support for the delivery will continue to be provided by its Australian headquarters where required as operations at the US facility are expanded.
Production is scheduled to begin with staged deliveries continuing through to the end of the second quarter of FY27. Delivery and payment are expected in Q2 FY27.
