The global additive manufacturing (AM) market reached $4.48 billion in the second quarter of 2026, representing 12% year-on-year growth, according to data from Additive Manufacturing Research (AM Research).

The figures cover the broader 3D printing market, including metal, polymer and ceramic 3D printers, materials and services. AM Research said the total market increased from $4.4 billion in Q1 2026 to $4.5 billion in Q2.

The Metal AM market accounted for $1.81 billion in Q2, up from $1.59 billion during the same quarter in 2025. The Polymer AM market reached $2.68 billion, compared with $2.42 billion a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the combined AM Services market totalled $2.50 billion in Q2, compared with $2.19 billion in Q2 2025.

AM Research said the first half of 2026 had delivered growth across parts of the additive manufacturing industry, with the performance also contributing to renewed capital flowing into the market.

“The first half of 2026 has been welcome time in the AM industry, with robust growth for many as forecasted,” said AM Research executive vice president Scott Dunham.

“However, it remains to be seen if we may have a stall out again as capex is pressured due to interest rates – which we have seen before – or if AM will continue to flourish as a manufacturing tool to weather rapidly changing market conditions,” Dunham said.

AM Research’s quarterly data tracks the market by vendor, printing technology, geography and application. Its tracked companies include 3D Systems, Stratasys, Markforged, EOS, Nikon SLM Solutions, HP, Formlabs, Renishaw, Carbon, Bambu Lab and Creality, among others.

The company has also released its 3DP/AM Market Insights: Q2 2026 report, which provides analysis and data covering the metal and polymer additive manufacturing markets.
