ClearVue Technologies has entered the New Zealand market through a new agreement with Viridian Glass, paving the way for the introduction of power-generating solar glass to local building projects.
The partnership, formalised under a Manufacturing and Distribution Agreement, will see Viridian Glass – New Zealand’s largest glass processor – manufacture and distribute ClearVue’s solar-integrated glazing products across the country.
ClearVue’s technology enables windows and glass façades to act as renewable energy sources by generating electricity while also reducing solar heat gain.
According to ClearVue, the system allows for buildings to become more energy-efficient without compromising on aesthetics or design.
Martin Deil, Global CEO of ClearVue Technologies, described the move as a significant milestone for the company’s expansion into New Zealand’s sustainable building sector.
“We are excited to partner with Viridian Glass, the market leader in glass processing in New Zealand,” Deil said.
“This agreement represents a significant step in expanding ClearVue’s presence in the region and making our innovative solar glazing solutions more accessible to the New Zealand market.”
Viridian Glass, which has operated across Australia and New Zealand for over 130 years, supplies both residential and commercial sectors.
The company said the new product offering would help meet increasing demand for environmentally responsible materials.
“ClearVue’s technology aligns perfectly with what our customers are asking for: smart, sustainable, and future-ready building materials,” said Nigel Rigby, CEO of Viridian Glass New Zealand.
“Together, we’re not just supplying glass — we’re helping to power the buildings of tomorrow.”
The rollout of solar glass aligns with New Zealand’s broader sustainability goals, including a national push for renewable energy adoption and compliance with more energy-efficient building codes.
With construction activity continuing to rise, both companies say the agreement offers new opportunities for architects and developers aiming to meet carbon reduction targets.
The partnership also forms part of ClearVue’s global expansion strategy, which includes building a network of international licensees to deliver its building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) glass solutions to a wider market.
