India-based global tech company LeadSquared is establishing a new headquarters in Victoria in a bid to build its first presence in Oceania, bringing new jobs and opportunities for academia and young professionals in the region.

Backed by the Victorian state government, the new headquarters and global training hub in Melbourne is intended to create 18 high-skilled jobs and cement Victoria’s position as a leading player in the global tech industry.

LeadSquared selected Victoria for the state’s world-class technology infrastructure and talent, a renowned culture of innovation, and thriving education and financial services sectors, according to a media statement the state government issued.

“The arrival of LeadSquared builds our tech excellence and provides terrific new jobs,” said Tim Pallas, minister for economic development.

“Tens of thousands of Victorians do great things in tech every day and it’s vital that we continue to grow and create opportunities for the coders, engineers and developers of the future.”

The Indian company is a leader in end-to-end sales, marketing, and onboarding automation solutions. It recently raised over $220 million in a recent Series C funding round, which pushed its valuation past $1.3 billion, making it one of the latest tech companies to achieve unicorn status.

The company offers a purpose-built platform that connects experiences across digital properties, back-office systems, company staff, and customers to provide sales and marketing solutions.

LeadSquared employs more than 1,000 professionals for its operations in India, US, Singapore, the Middle East, and South Africa. The company’s Melbourne staff will focus on engineering, servicing, sales, and marketing.

“Melbourne’s innovation culture, technology infrastructure and talent will play a key role in supporting our global expansion efforts in the region and will also lead in our go-to-market training efforts globally,” said Nilesh Patel, chief executive of LeadSquared.
